Aside from the fact that it can contain a lot more music than a regular CD, it is so much easier to carry around because of its size. Today, there is so much more that an MP3 player can do than simply storing and listening to music. You can actually get to watch videos, enjoy radio music, look at photographs, or read out text files. Another amazing innovation is getting to make use of your player as a USB drive, which is now featured on a number of brands of MP3 players. Coby is one of those electronics brands that manufacture MP3 players with these very special features and powered by either a standard triple A battery or one with a built-in battery, which you can recharge. Here are a few simple instructions to get you started with your Coby MP3 player. Coby offers various MP3 player models, which come with their own specific instructions manuals. It is important to read these instructions carefully to maximize the use of the gadget’s whole capacity. Each of these manuals can be different from the other as each model has its own special ports and specifications. Aside from this, you must also have in your possession all of the gadgets that come with the player including its headphones, USB cable, and your computer, along with your manual.

Insert the battery, replace the battery cover and USB cap. Other models--including the MP610--have the rechargeable battery which uses the supplied USB cable to charge. To charge these players plug the USB cable into the USB port, which is located on the bottom of the player and the other end into your computer. Hold the button until the player's LED front indicator lights up. To turn it off press the play button again and hold it until the LED light turns off. To turn the MP610 on, slide the power button--located on the right side of the player--down and hold it until the screen turns on. To turn the power off, slide the power button down and hold it until the screen turns off. Double click on that device and then open the folder where you store music on your computer. Click on the songs you want on your player and drag them to the device folder to copy them to your player. If you're loading music onto the MP610, connect the player to your computer with the supplied USB cable and then follow the same instructions as the MP300.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. See All Buying Options Add to Wish List Disabling it will result in some disabled or missing features. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. It doesn't have the most storage (showing its age a bit), but the overall design is sturdy (this thing went with him to and from school on a daily basis, makes its way around the house and yard when he is doing chores - basically it lives the life of a teenage boy). Over time, the device did break down due to the high use.

To begin loading in your music on your player, uncover the USB and plug it into the USB port of your computer. This will appear as a removable device on “My Computer.” When it does, you will need to double-click on it so that you are able to open up the particular folder that stores the music on your computer. Select the songs you wish to add to your MP3 player, then click and drag them to the folder of the device. This will copy the songs to the player. If you wish to listen to the music on your player, go to the arrow buttons located at the upper area of the player and go to the main menu seen on the player’s screen. Press on the play button that will open up the option “Play music.” Simply press on the play button again to get your music to start. Adding videos or pictures on you MP3 player is another thing you could do. It really is quite simple, much like the process for transferring music files. First, plug in your MP3 player into your computer. Proceed to open up its photo file, and click and drag your selected photographs into your MP3 player. Over time, the device did break down due to the high use. One of the direction buttons stopped responding and the screen began to collect dust underneath it. When it finally hit an unusable state, we tried some other players, but my son never liked them as much. They sounded fine, and they even had more storage, but he did not care for the navigation. As a result, he went out and re-bought this one with his Christmas money, that was how fond of it he is. I have to say that after taking a look at this one and comparing it to others, this player has the best menu navigation I have seen out of one of these budget MP3 players. Songs are easy to port over as well. Given the reasonable price, this is an easy player to recommend. Please try again later. Please try again later. Olivia 4.0 out of 5 stars I am extremely rough on my things, most mp3 players I either break or lose within a year. This baby has been on several trips, in extreme cold, suffocating heat, run after run, bus ride after bus ride. Now, I only use this for the mp3 player, and rare occasions, the radio, so I cannot vouch for its other functions. But it is one tough little mp3 player. Being as cheap as it is, it don't have a lot of fancy options, nor does it produces top notch sounds. For me, it is good enough. It does better if paired with a decent pair of ear buds. I like the size, it's not too small to lose, but small enough to fit everywhere. One of the bigger cons I have experienced with this mp3 player would be finding the file manager for it. You can add files directly to it, but for some reason it's categorized not the same.

I have to say that after taking a look at this one and comparing it to others, this player has the best menu navigation I have seen out of one of these budget MP3 players. Songs are easy to port over as well. Given the reasonable price, this is an easy player to recommend. It loads easy, just use it as an external drive. Replace the earbuds with your favorite headphones, I like the wrap around the ear kind for riding my bike. It's got plenty of memory for my playlist, there just aren't that many songs I'd listen to over and over.Once you get the hang of it it's ok, but you still have to look at the device to operate it. I haven't had any trouble with the headphone jack plug like on other similar devices I've had. Battery life has been good so far, even when I couldn't figure out how to turn it off it lasted at least three days. I don't accidentally hit the buttons like I did on my previous device. And you could buy one for each style of music you listen to, a red one for running, blue for biking, black for oldies, whatever. One complaint is it comes with 'free downloads'. They're only free if you sign up for monthly fees and then cancel in 20 days or something. I bought this device to download music from my public library - for free. So forget those companies who want to be your next utility bill. Buy it. You'll like it but not love it. Please try again later. From the United StatesThis is an older model, but we bought this one for him about three years ago for Christmas and he loved it.

It's well illustrated and the English is actual English. That's also better than I'd expected. However, you'll have to go online or read the on-board user's manual to do anything except play music. If you want to look at videos, read text documents, etc., those instructions aren't in the printed manual. The manual said to put all music in a MUSIC.DIR folder in the MP3 player's on-board files. There is no MUSIC.DIR folder, so I created a new folder and called it MUSIC. It worked fine. The player is definitely cheaply made. Sometimes I have to click multiple times before anything moves on the selection screen. I'm not thrilled with that, but as long as it works within three or four clicks, I'm okay with it. At the very most, I might listen to two recordings per day, and I'm not carrying it anywhere. It doesn't have to be sturdy. The sound quality is surprisingly good. I wish I could adjust the bass and treble, because I can sometimes hear the subliminal (voice) track beneath the music. However, I'd rather have sound quality that's too sensitive than not sensitive enough. All in all, this is okay. I wanted an inexpensive MP3 player with a good navigation screen and adequate sound. That's what this is. Otherwise, my best advice is to spend a little more and get what you really want. Please try again later. Please try again later. Amazon Customer 5.0 out of 5 stars Since then, I have used it daily for pod-casts as well as a surprisingly good fm radio. It updates its database quickly, plus you have the option to skip the update, a very nice feature that I wish my two sandisk players had. The nice thing about the sandisk players is a memory slot so I use them for music. I use the Coby for daily delete and download of new podcasts. Sound is clear and clean with very good fidelity. It is bit sensitive with fast forward as you can end up with the next selection, but very doable if you are careful. But, for me the reason for this review, is the fm radio.

It is better than my sony radio which is dedicated to fm and was my portable radio of choice until now. So, for a cheap, plenty of memory for my uses, mp3 player with an exceptional fm radio, buy it. You will not be sorry. Even so, I just bought another one to replace this one even thought I still have the two Sansas. It is my preferred mp3 player. It has had continuous use every day since I bought it. I have dropped it with the earphone cord attached probably 50 times so it was not the players fault that the earphone jack failed. It has hit the floor many times. The electronics are still working so I intend to open it up and see if I can fix the jack. It seems that the jack failure is common to all mp3 players, so why waste money on a high priced player. Add one more feature I love and that is its slim design with an informative large screen. Everything I said in my review still stands and have recommended it to others. It is a great little player. Another EDIT ( an or so hour later)- Fixed it. The case is easy to pry apart. Use a thin knife to start a gap and your fingernails to run along the open gap to split the halves apart. With a jeweler's phillip's head screwdriver remove four screws holding the circuit board. With a thin flat head jeweler's screwdriver gently push in the headphone jack contacts (they are slots on both sides of the jack. If you push them in too far, push them back out a bit by putting the screwdriver into the stereo jack. Since it is open, clean the screens with screen cleaner. If all is well, turn off and reassemble. I am listening to it now- so the one coming will be backup, just in case. Like I said, a great little player. Plus, the replacement is a 6gig player that costs the same as this one cost 2 years ago. Amazon is great. Please try again later. Please try again later. Consumer 4.0 out of 5 stars This is the 3rd Coby MP3 I've purchased.

The mp3 comes with the program itself, but if you have deleted it, you need to make sure to find the older version of Coby Media Manager. This model wasn't listed when I downloaded the manager directly from the Coby website. Another annoying thing would be the randomization of the songs. Sometimes there is a second silence once a song starts, which can be a little annoying, but this is really minor. Overall, I recommend this mp3 player. Great price, works well, especially if you have a tendency to lose and break these things. Please try again later. Please try again later. DB BluBlock Productions 4.0 out of 5 stars I figured that I would get something inexpensive, that way when I fall off my bike or faceplant into a tree I won't be losing an expensive piece of electronics. Jokes on me! I've gone into the creek with it, into the trees with it, landed on it many of times, scratched it.After my adventure into the creek I began keeping it in a sealine pouch just in case, and it hasn't overheated or anything so far. The radio reception is perfect, even out in the middle of nowhere while cruising mountain bike trails. Then when the games over, I switch over to mp3s and listen to George Carlin.I often wonder how many people have heard me yelling about my baseball team losing, then later laughing hysterically from the woods while listening to stand up comedy. The buttons seemed cheap at first, and I figured they wouldn't last long.Basically, minus the fact that it looks like it was drug cross country behind a semi.Even the battery life is about as good as it was brand new. I've got a year out of this one so when it finally kicks it, I'll most definitely be buying another. UPDATE: This one is still working flawlessly. somehow. I figured that if I couldn't destroy it, my six year old shouldn't be able to either.Shows how easy to use this thing is.Please try again later. Please try again later. J. FRANKLIN 3.0 out of 5 stars It loads easy, just use it as an external drive.

Top Contributor: Writing 3.0 out of 5 stars I like to listen to relaxing, subliminal MP3s, and I need an MP3 player that's easy to use with adequate sound quality. The selling point for this -- besides the low price -- was the easy-to-read navigation, to choose just the one MP3 I want to hear. I have other MP3 players, but they don't have menus I can navigate easily. The player and accessories are overpackaged in layers of clear plastic. That's normal for MP3 players that are also sold in stores. It's a theft deterrent. That's okay. The player comes with a USB cable and a set of earbuds. They're actually better than I'd expected. The battery was fully charged when I started the player for the first time. And, it charges easily via a USB connection. The instruction manual is clearer than most, and has instructions in English, Spanish, and French.

After my daughter's iPod died after about 1 year, I got her the 4 GB 601 as a replacement, and one for my wife. This 8 GB 620 is for me. Only difference I see is a bigger screen. I listen to my music on shuffle all day, have some pics of the family, and some videos - cartoons to occupy the kids when they get fussy. I can buy 10 of these for the price of a Apple iPod nano 8GB (5th Generation) Ease of use - use the Coby Media Manager on the unit to load music and convert video, and it takes minutes. Included software rips MP3 and converts video. Incredible battery life. Does music, video, photos, FM radio, and.txt files. Great sound. It's NOT an i-Product, and I don't need to pollute my computer with crappy iTunes software and store. Con: Few options to organize music. It can have one play list, but I usually have it on shuffle play Low res screen - simple videos like cartoons work best. No memory expansion No WMA support, but WMA can be conveted to MP3 by Media Manager. No DRM support. Earphones are not much better than dollar store quality. Sound is good, but invest in decent earbuds, you won't regret it.Please try again later. Please try again later. Nils Young 4.0 out of 5 stars But as one who has been schooled in many mysteries, I have always wondered why everything technical has to be so mysterious. Which is exactly the reason I bought this little 4Gb MP3 player. It's not mysterious. Only one thing: you can't run it off a power source while charging the battery. If you plug the USB cable into the '620 while listening, the minute you plug the other end of the USB into either a charging block (I stole my wife's iPhone cube) or a USB hole on your computer, whatever you had playing stops dead. Then you get the screen that says the '620 is hooked to a computer (and thus charging) or charging off a power source.

And it's a damn sight less expensive than an iPhone or iPod and thus less of a heartbreak when you drop it or run over it or in any other manner lose track of your music playing toy. Which is super to me, being well-schooled in the mysteries of paying for stuff. If all you want is music, this is it. Addendum: I liked the 4Gb box so much I bought another'n. A 8Gb box. Now I have ALL my eclectic music on one box to travel with and another smaller one for driving around while Tito Nieves sings or Ustad Mohammed Omar plays an Afghan raga. Nice. Please try again later. Please try again later. T. Brewer 4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, I'm familiar with Windows Media Player. But, this Coby Media Manager (CMM) was a beast to finally get set up and work. First, I have Vista, and got an error when I initially connected the mp3 to the pc. I panicked and the installation aborted and deleted. OOOOPPPS,wrong thing to do. My boss finally found the CMM on MegaDownload site, but it still wouldn't install completely. But, music, photos, and video would not sync. At this point the CMM did let me synchronise to the mp3 player (music, movies, and photos);also, finally realized that on the CMM the little telephone-looking icon beside the listing means it is on the mp3 player. All that said it is now playing music and Bugs Bunny cartoons---YHEA!! Wish the instruction manual provided more info and that Coby.com would have the software downloads up-to-date and easily available when you select the device on their site. On the music, there was no issue whatsoever if I had just wanted to drag my.wav or.mp3's over to the USB using Windows Media Player, but I can't stand not to be able to utilize all the options like the video player. I had even converted one video to an.MTV format, and tried dragging it to the USB device, but the player could not find the file. Hope this helps a newbie like me; buy it, but be prepared for a learning curve if you want to use the video.

I will probably buy one of these for my husband now that I know how it works. Please try again later. Please try again later. CAWNY 5.0 out of 5 stars I bought it mainly to listen to music, and I found the transfer from my PC to this player to be extremely easy (I used Windows Media Player with no problem). It has a very nice sound, and the battery life is long. Directions say you can charge it through your PC, but I did not want to keep my PC on that long just to charge a battery, so I purchased a Coby USB power charger The directions that came with the MP3 player are very minimal, but if you want more detailed instructions, you can go to the Coby website and download a free 34 page manual that gives more information about this MP3 player. All you need is the model number. It is kind of difficult to switch up and down and is very small. You have to hold it down for a while for it to turn the player on and off. Other than that, I have no other complaints. It really is nice, the sound quality is good and I am getting a whole lot of enjoyment out of it. Hope this helps potential buyersPlease try again later.
